Free reference photos- Red Poppy flowers

A couple days ago, I was contacted about the free photos for artists that I have on my website ( sunriseworkshop.com ) and it reminded me that I haven't updated them for a while.  I've got tons of photos to share.  My photos are free to use as reference photos, in videos, on websites, etc... I only ask that you link back to sunriseworkshop.com and give me credit as due.  You may not use them on comercial products, such as cards, prints, coasters, and such.  However, if you'd just like to print off a personal note card to send to a friend, that's fine.  So long as you do not attempt to personally profit from the sale of my photography, we'll be cool.  ;)  If you're an artist that uses my photos as reference for paintings for sale, that's ok, just don't call the photos your own.

A simple solution to a big problem. Algae oil as biofuel!

With the price of gas going up (seems like every other day) and oil prices soaring through the roof, renewable biofuels are sounding better and better!  Here's one company that I've come across that has really impressed me.  Not only are they creating a renewable biofuel, but this biofuel doesn't use food crops like corn to make it.  No worries about shorting the dinner table!  This biofuel is created from a simple plant.  A plant so simple it's often overlooked or condemned as scum.  It's that great green gunk called Algae!  Yes, that nasty, slimy gook could be the energy industries next best friend.

Visit their page on the High Density Vertical Bioreactor.  Check it out!

This thing could change the way our country consumes energy in such a positive way.  I can't wait until home units are common!  Imagine, growing your own car, lawnmower, & tractor fuel, home heating oil, etc.  It's posible!  I believe people should start investing in this technology right now!

I have a dream of converting my life to renewable consumption only.  I wish my little fantasy could be placed 5 years from now instead of 20, but I'm afraid it will be that long before any personal setups could be feasable the way I picture them.  Afterall, algae as a biofuel has been studied since the 70's, although most of the research was based on open pond designs.  The vertical design of the bioreactor removes the problems previously facing algae oil, such as contamination and large amounts of water use.

I imagine, in 20 years, walking out onto my deck and checking on my personal bioreactor.  Then I fill the car's tank with highgrade biofuel made from an algae who's density is about half oil.  The solids left over are put to good use as well.  I choose to compost my algae solids, which help provide nutrients for my greenhouse plants.  My highlight of my lunch consists of a fresh salad plucked only moments before eating...  Ah!

And speaking of greehouses.  Valcent Products Inc also have this amazing High Density Vertical Growth garden set-up that could be an ideal solution to growing foods in urban areas.  This garden is basically a moving skyscraper of vegitation.  You can maximize output for small growing spaces!  Every major hospital, school, prison, etc. should have these, even if the general public doesn't embrace these whole heartedly.  I can't imagine why we wouldn't want to put them in every city on Earth.  With food shortages all over the world how can we not make an effort to put systems like these into effect? http://www.valcent.net/s/HDVGS.asp

It isn't often I come across a company who truely inspires me to want to be a better person.  This one does.  If more companies were like this one, well, I think our unborn future generations might actually have a chance!  If we continue our habits of mass consumption of nonrenewable resources, there won't be anything left but waste.  Is that what we want to be remembered for?  Mucking up the world with our filth?

I'd like my generation to be remembered as the one that put a stop to the destruction, and bought the green back into the world.  How did we become such a wasteful society anyway?  I try to do my part and walk instead of driving whenever I can, but it isn't enough.  Each year my home gets a little greener, but I won't be happy until systems that use renewable algae oil are in place.  To heat my home with it would be ideal!  Then, I might feel like I'm making a real difference.
