9月28日 ACEO Art video on YouTube Artist Trading CardsI can already tell that YouTube is probably going to become addictive. lol I got my second video up. It does have the same music track as the first one, but this video is only for some of my ACEO. There aren't any larger works shown in this one, just original art cards. ACEO measure 2.5" x 3.5", the same as a standards sized trading card. If you've got a few minutes, check it out! Feel free to leave comments if you'd like. Most importantly, I hope you enjoy my work. Thanks for viewing!
9月26日 My first YouTube video- a sample of my artWell, I finally got my first YouTube video up! Yay! The guys got the music track down for me, which was quite the project. LOL Anyway, I hope you enjoy my first attempt at a YouTube broadcast! - Kathryn
9月22日 Monarch in transformationHere's a little miracle that the kids and I have been watching. This monarch will be breaking free soon, maybe in a week, possibly less. We check on it's progress and note all the little changes. It's hidden in the crumbling rock below the railroad trestle, shetlered from just about everything... except for us. We do nothing that will disturb it, only stop each time we walk to the store to say hello and check to see if it's still there.
![]() 9月21日 Interview with $$$VIM Featured Artist, Deborah CompanyI proudly lead the eBay group $$$VIM Vitality Imagination Marketing with my co-leader Adrienne LaValle (ambercolumbia on ebay). One of my duties includes interviewing our featured artist! Right now our featured artist is Deborah Company a.k.a. debcoart on eBay. It was a pleasure to speak with Deb and I hope you enjoy our interview!
When did you decide that you wanted to be an artist?
For most of my life had had wanted to be a full-time professional artist, but I didn’t think it was possible to make a living at it nor did I consider myself talented enough to call myself an artist.
In 2001 I got laid off from 2 jobs, both companies disappeared completely, I lost all my perks & bennies and my stock shares were worthless. I was fed up with having others in control of my life so I read The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron and decided it was time for a big change.
I prefer mixed mediums.
Me.
Family, friends and celebrities are my subjects. I look at photos of frogs and cartoon images come to mind. People’s laughter at the art shows also inspires me to continue creating them.
I had 11 different art series in the works and hadn’t been selling well at my shows. All the tropical artists were selling well, so I decided to give it a whirl but I wanted a different look from the others.
As often as possible.
I had been salivating for over a year at the videos that some artists were doing of their artwork and how they created it. I wanted to do this in the worst way, but had no video equipment even though I had researched on what to get. Someone told me about this website called YouTube and I immediately jumped in and started making some really terrible videos using my cheapo vid cam. The sound was atrocious and the video was supremely bad, but I was instantly hooked. My son showed me the basics and I made a habit of recording a video every Saturday morning. It was a major production and I sometimes would do 33 takes. We finally figured out that my 5 megapixel Nikon camera would allow me to take 7 minutes of video with good sound. Except the voice and the video didn’t match, but I cut my head off in the videos so no one would know. Then Ccswhimsies on eBay told me about Windows Movie Maker and I began making slide shows of my art and others, as well. Do you have any special plans for your YouTube videos in the future? Indeed I do. I am now setting up separate accounts in which to store the other artist videos. I want these videos to continue circulating in YouTube for many years to come. This is the wave of the future and this free marketing venue is unlimited in its potential. On the next pet contest I will be trying a new idea to see if I can’t increase the amount of traffic viewing the contest video. My goal is to become a well-known personality on YouTube with thousands of subscribers and lots of art sales. I think being on tv would be fun, too. I like having lots of friends without having to get out of my pajamas. Okay, so being on tv would require different attire from pajamas. I can do that.
How did you get involved with $$$VIM and our artists? Somewhere along the way, I got invited to join the VIM group. I think I have been a member there for over a year now? It’s a GREAT group of people. I have found almost all the eBay artist groups to be fabulous. Full of friendly and helpful people. VIM is fabulous.
I like helping other people. That was why I began making over 47 art videos featuring other artists’ work about 7 months ago. I’ve also helped many people learn how to use YouTube because I think it’s a very important thing to do.
Absolutely. I have made many new friends and my networking skills have improved remarkably.
I have a very active imagination. My initial thought on the contests was that it would be a perfect way to get more eBay artists active on YouTube. I like to think that the contests helped to get more of the eBay artist community into YouTube…I hope it did, anyhow.
The Pet Video Contests.
Yes, it has shortened the length of time between contests. I don’t have to spend hours every day going thru eBay art groups to get people to enter the art contests. This saves a LOT of time that I can now spend in YouTube networking.
I have a panel of 3 judges that make the final decision on the top 5 in the Pet Video Contests. I grab other friends wherever I can to help me review the video entries and give me lists of their favorites. These all get compiled and reviewed. It easily takes 5-6 people to do the judging process. I, personally, view every single video that is entered in the contests. We had 186 entered in the most recent contest. So when Pet Video Contest #6 begins, I am trying a new method of choosing a winner. Rather than using the judging process, I will rely solely upon the viewers voting for their favorites. One vote per Account. This should increase the traffic to the video as entrants will want to send the link to their friends and families to get more votes. My job then will be to count the votes and my judges can take a vacation! A toasty 34 degrees in the sun! It's warming though. Just an hour ago it was only 30 degrees. The grass got it's last mowing yesterday and the bits and pieces crackle when you step on them. It looks like it snowed on the lawn because the frost is so thick and white. Below is the primrose in my garden, all covered in shimmering ice bits, like it was dipped in sugar.
I love the way the sunlight sparkles on the frost, making everything glow! The asters look so pretty, but the glow from the sunlight on the melting frost is so intense I had trouble getting a clear picture. Last night the skunk was in the yard. Probably busy trying to raid my neighbors' trash and packing a couple extra pounds for winter. This week has been a clear reminder that the cold season is coming soon. After the heat of the summer, I'm looking forward to it. I love this weather! I think Fall may be my favorite season! At least for now. By the time Spring comes around again, I'll probably think that it's Spring that I like the most. For now, I'll enjoy the wonders Autumn has to offer! 9月15日 SOLD Little Punk- Say NO to Birdseed Original ACEO"Little Punk- Say NO to Birdseed" Original ACEO by Kathryn M. Pinkham. SOLD
Enlarged to show detail. Actual size: 3.5" x 2.5" (3.5 inches by 2.5 inches)
Medium: Archival Micron ink and Prismacolor inks on acid free Strathmore watercolor paper.
Date of Completion: 9/14/07
Notes: The purple copyright on the picture is Not on the original artwork. The heart pendant and chains on this fuzzy mischief maker have metalic gold Prismacolor ink on them that sparkles and shimmers in the light. This little guy has a blue punk hair style, black clothes, a little skull and crossbones pin, and several piercing in each ear. But don't let those apperances fool you! He really does have a heart of gold. You do have to wonder what he's got hiding in his pocket... Could it be the chalk that wrote "Squirrels Rule" on the bricks behind him? Or, is he pushing birdseed to the Chipmunks?

I've come home to find my house ransacked by fuzzy paws. Heard my husband holler because he came face to face with a live squirrel in the stove. Been mistaken for a tree and climbed, claw marks and all. I've had pine cones hurled at me with deadly accuracy by these intelligent little creatures. It amazes me how their little feet can sound like army boots across the ceiling beams when you're trying to sleep.
Still... It delights me as much as my children to watch them cross the road by climbing across the power lines. I can forgive my house being squirrelsacked years ago and still get a chuckle when I think about the face to face moments.
I watch these busy animals daily, as they harvest the acorns from the oaks and the seed from my feeder. I don't mind sharing. They've offered me hours of entertainment and made me laugh over and over again. And a few park squirrels have given me special memories of times they shared our table and our meal. Enjoying our lunch with us, sitting only inches from our plates.
I occationally offer squirrel ACEO (trading card sized artwork). If you love squirrels too, consider ordering one! :) All the best, Kate
The leaves are turning on the Pleasant River in Brownville Junction. It's that time of year again...
The nights are becoming crisp and cool.
A blanket of frost settles over the land and transforms this little town in Maine.
So green all Summer on the riverbank!
Now the leaves turn interesting colors.
The maples look magnificent in all their Autumn glory!
This is only the beginning of one of the most colorful seasons.
I hope you'll join me this Fall for a little Maine leaf peeping!
Leaves turning on the Pleasant River in Brownville Junction, Maine.
This photo is across the river from where I was standing. It was quite warm and hazy this day. The nights are getting cold, but we've still had a few 80 degree days. The old joke about Maine weather goes something along the lines of this. If you don't like the weather, just wait a bit, it'll change. And if you turn on the heat, the airconditioning and then the heat again all in one day, then you might live in Maine. So true!!!
This leaf was laying beside the road in acorn rubble, only feet from the September roses.
The roses are confused by the weather and think it's Spring again! Their beauty will be short lived, but enjoyed while it lasts! All the best!
